In November 2010, I did some styling for About A Chair, this amazing store that sells, you guessed it!—CHAIRS! Every piece has a story and more importantly, is FABULOUS. You know that feeling when you picture your dream house and imagine the kind of furniture you want? They’re not imaginary! About A Chair sells them!
Anyway, it was opening its store in Makati and I was asked to come up with style pegs for their employees who had to be in all black, but not the boring old, black shirt + black blazer + black slacks + black shoes. I came up with a number of looks for men and women but these are three of the looks I styled for the women. Only here, I didn’t keep it all black because I was feeling… colorful!

LATE KUNG LATE. haha! So what if I did this three years ago? I can post whatever I want! LOL And I guess I just miss the people I worked with—the designers more than the models ;) haha! They’re all amazing and are making a name for themselves, I can only hope I have the guts to pursue my own dream like they do!
So this was my piece for the Crystal Laundry Collection! Don’t hate, appreciate. O_O hahaha!

For the runway, the denim suit was paired with a faux fur vest and modeled by the beautiful Emily Symes. (“fur? I’d rather go naked.” - my home girl, Khloe Kardash-Odom! LMAO)

Being the loud and proud brand that it is, Lee Jeans made sure we got the exposure we needed and it was such a humbling experience. We were in pictures and videos all over the internet…
in newspapers…

even in the biggest LED billboard on the most famous avenue in the country!

It was an awesome experience! I got to work not only with three talented people from my own university,

but I also had a really fun learning experience with students from other universities,

Lee’s own designers and stylists,

and who could forget, the models! O_O hahaha! I don’t wanna post the pictures here anymore hahaha! So an extra click for Rich Herrera and Luke Jickain! WOOHOO! hahahahaha! SORRY I HAD TO. O_O kbye.
Like in my previous post, these sketches were hidden in my black hole of a room and are now found. I made these, along with around 3 more sketches, all within like 5 hours. Why? Because back in September 2009, I received an invitation from Lee Jeans Philippines to enter their first annual student design competition for Philippine Fashion Week. If you’re a college student, you would know that September and October are HELL months. And being the nerd that I am, uncompromising in my academics that I almost passed up an amazing opportunity, waited until the last minute to decide I’d try it out (thanks to the intimidating force of my sister Jilli.) It wasn’t instantly appealing to me because they asked for STREET WEAR. ME? STREET WEAR? srsly?
This is just my way of saying (1) please excuse the sloppy work, and (2) I’m graduating! NO MORE HELL MONTHS! HURRAH!!

Graduation is coming up and I figured I’d start throwing away trash in my room. I found some really old sketches from 2009. You know how some girls keep journals to be able to look back and see who they were in past years? My sketches kinda do that for me. My sketches are like journal entries that remind me of the things I used to like. But it’s funny how some clothes I sketched just a few years ago are clothes I wouldn’t be caught dead in today! O_O

BLUE HAIR? what was I thinking? But I was and still am in love with ruching O.O I always will be!
…how time flies.
Before I graduate 4 days from today, I thought I’d share the thesis I worked on for the past school year. Being an Interdisciplinary Studies student with tracks in Management and Psychology, I had to come up with a thesis topic that would allow me to use both disciplines in studying it. Basically, the research shows how the image of cheap second-hand clothing which are usually snubbed by Filipino consumers are significantly lifted by presenting it in a way they aren’t usually presented. Along with the 170 pages of research, research, analysis, and more research, my thesis came with a creative output in the form of an editorial featuring ukay-ukay items.
A few weeks ago, I was asked by the Interdisciplinary Studies Department of Ateneo de Manila University to present my thesis to incoming seniors of school year 20012-2013. I guess they saw something in it worth sharing!
I can’t take all the credit for the 4.0 (yeah-yuh!) grade I got for it haha! I had tremendous help from my favorite business partner, Kyla who was also the photographer for this editorial. She’s amazing! Check out here portfolio here.
